Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape variety that thrives in warm, sunny climates, making it well-suited to the eastern side of the Okanagan Valley near Osoyoos and the south-facing slopes of Cawston in the Similkameen Valley. Wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon in British Columbia are known for their intense cassis and blackberry fruit flavors, as well as their structured tannins and high acidity. Many Cabernet Sauvignon wines from BC also have a distinctive dried sage or tobacco note. Wines from ripe vintages can age very well, often drinking beautifully for more than a decade.
