Sauvignon Blanc has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, similar to the popularity of Pinot Gris in the 1990s. Plantings of Sauvignon Blanc in British Columbia have increased significantly in the 2000s, and the region has developed its own distinct style. BC Sauvignon Blanc wines are known for their high acidity and ripe fruit flavors, with some winemakers producing crisp, green-bean and grass-like wines, while others create richer, tropical-fruit-flavored wines. Some of the most successful Sauvignon Blanc wines from BC are oak-fermented and blended with Semillon, resulting in wines similar to white Bordeaux.
